thanks for the info, if I get a cougar this year it will be a shoulder mount.  I live in a 1 story home, and with three dogs that mount wouldnt last a week.

I did a rug with my first.  Their fur/hide is awesome and I wanted to preserve the whole thing.  They do have headmounts.

If I had a mount done, I'm quite sure it would be a shoulder mount. To me, a trophy buck is anything that is mounted in anyway for display purposes. A record buck speaks for itself.

It really depends on what it is, a really good deer/elk, shoulder mounts are good enough. Sheep/goat/ grizz.........probably a lifesize, money is an object BUT once in a lifetime is just that, you only go around once.
 I regret not doing a lifesize on my goat, it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but after seeing the awesome job Charlie did..........well, a lifesize should have been done.

But I agree, I am occasionally looking at my skull mount and wishing I'd have just caped it and did a shoulder as well.  But the euro mount looks pretty damn good!  Let me know next time your gonna be up Spokalu way and we'll have you over to see it.

All depends on the animal.  Deer, elk, moose, caribou all would be shoulder.  Bear would be rug, lion full body, goat full body, sheep maybe full body but probaly shoulder.

shoulder mount and lots of pictures, a shoulder mount hangs on my wall everyday and start to blend in after  a while, but when our photo  album gets opened up and we are brought right back to a hunt where you were successful or even just have a great time with my friends and family. that hunt could of been ten years ago but when i look at a pic and it make me smile or laugh and remember a moment in time , that is what a  trophy is to me , mount or no mount.
