yes i have an extended cab and no, no squeaks. mine is quiet.

the thing we used to do is just spray some lube like a silicone spray lube to the rubber weatherstrips to quiet them down.

the intermediate shaft ckunk is not in the front end, when i say front end. some say tomatoes, some say tomatos. as in it is not  a suspension clunk. it is part of the steering column. i'm assuming you know this...but figured i'd mention it just to be sure. you keep saying front end clunk.
first we used to replace the shaft...then they said we just need to do the lube thing. it is a syringe full of grease. you essentially pack the thing full of grease to take the play out of it. then they were replacing them again...all of this went down while i was still at the dealer. since i am not there any more...they were not doijng anything. gm said don't make any more repairs till they figure out how to fix it...i have not looked into it recently to see what they are doing now.

I have replaced the alternator and cam sensor (factory recall) and that is it.  Fully loaded my 7.3 will out pull just about any other rig, at least that has been my experience so far.  By the time this one wears out I will be too old to drive. :chuckle:

that is a nice truck. cam sensor replacement is standard issue with those 7.3L. I wish i would have kept my 7.3.

Depends on lots of stuff. I have had new Ford/Dodge /Chevy. I like the Toyota Tacoma if it is able to do what you need.

The new Consumer report Auto issue just came out, 2007 best pick up buy is the 1500 Silverado, how ever accross the board it is rated average, in 'reliability' 'Satisfaction' and 'owner cost', very general ratings.
The new Toyota Tundra 4X4 V8 is rated 'reliability' "well below average" the Nissan  Titan is rated the same. The Dodge 1500 is rated one step better it says "below average" Ford is rated "average".

That said consumer report is not the end all answer. I have been buying new Chevys since 99, and 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006. I put on loads of miles.
I buy them as they have given me good service, BUT mostly cause, the dealership is 3 miles away and I have known the owners for 25 years, we get along and they make me GREAT deals.
If I did not have to tow a trailer, Id drive a toyota tacoma.

Ford diesels for me. I drive them for 200,000 miles in six years, then trade them in and only have to change oil & standard maintenance. I haven't even had to do brakes. Probably just lucky. Wish I had the 7.3 instead of the 6 litre I have now.

I had a Tacoma, and now I have a 2004 Chevy 1/2 ton. I like the truck, but i would like to get a 3/4 ton and get something that doesn't have crappy IFS.

my friend has a 99 chevy and all of the options have rattled off of it. I makes so many noises now you cant tell what is going on. And i think every light on the dash is showing some kind of problem. I though maybe it was just his truck but maybe not.
That's funny Red, A friend of mine had one that sound just as you described, but he drove the damn think like he stole it. :chuckle: He put a couple strips of black electrical tape over the idiot lights so he could drive it at night, otherwise it was like the vegas strip in the cab.
