I guess I'm just looking for some advise from all you whitetail experts out there... My brother and I were given permission on 5,000 acres of prime whitetail country. The property has gates everywhere and there is only one other person allowed to hunt it. My brother and I have never hunted for whitetail deer, so we thought it'd be fun to try it out. So what I did was get a map of all the property and started driving around looking for what I thought would be good whitetail areas. There are three large creeks on the property and two of the creeks actually come together at the bottom of the property. I have set up two feeders spreed out by approximately 40 acres apart along one of the creeks. Im using corn inside the feeders. I also sprinkled Come here deer around the corn. I have two trail cams set up and I guess now its just a waiting game. Im going to set up two more feeders on the other creek along with trail cams. Im also thinking about creating a couple mineral licks somewhere... (?) So yesterday, I went and checked one of the trail cams and found a picture of a freaking huge cougar. No deer pics on the first camera. The second trail cam was just set up yesterday so ill give it a few days and see what I have.. My plan is a week before Muzzy season, Im going to start dumping apples at each feed site..
So I guess, is there anything else I can do or am I doing something wrong.. Ive heard stories from people and neighbors of huge whitetail bucks being seen on this property.. Any advise or corrections would be much appreciated..
