starting my trip off with a bang (truck motor bang)
« on: September 04, 2010, 01:28:59 PM »
I left work at 11am with trailer in tow for elk camp I made it about 3 miles from the summit on.
I-90 and I think my motor took a *censored*.  I called my dad had him tow the trailer to camp and had a tow truck come get my suburban to tow it back to lake Stevens.  Tow bill was 476 bucks.  Now I'm on my way to Oregon for my cousins wedding then I will ride back to camp on Sunday.  I hope hunting is better then the trip over.

Ouch...Try looking into a Roadside Assistance Option with your Insurance, not 100% sure of mine when it comes to distance,100$ max I believe, no charge to get me out of the ditch.

With my Extended Warranty 8$ a month it's 100$ to the nearest approved Shop. Already saved my ass once...the Warranty that is, haven't needed a tow yet...

AAA plus is like $125 a year and would tow the trailer too.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

Double check that you get the RV option for AAA. I was told that the regular AAA would'nt get a trailer towed and that we needed the RV option to make sure they would take the 29' trailer if they were needed for the truck.  Mabye it was a line of sales BS??   :dunno:

Correct, you need the "PLUS" package I believe.  I think the regular package for AAA is $99 a year, and the plus is like $125.  It covers what ever your driving and whatever your pulling both.

This happened two years ago to my buddy and I.  Blew his motor on the way up to camp.  AAA towed the truck to his house and we had his dad pick up the fifth wheel and drop it off at camp for us.  It sucked!

that sucks, my truck took a crap on me the day before my special permit late Alta any buck hunt last year.  500.00 bucks to get it running.  It sucked, but yours sounds worse.  Hope it all works out.

I know how ya feel.

Years ago my partner and I were hunt'un at Conrad Meadow when his fuel pump bit-the-dust. We had to bum a ride to the top of a hill to get cell service. Called a tow truck to take us to Yakima, many $$ later we were on the road back to camp.
