Started Training Today
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:29:52 AM »
My dog, Miles, began training at Northwest Performance Dogs, in Monroe, today.  He's showing lots of potential at 4 months old.  I can't wait to get him back for some hunting later this fall.

(Man, I love to watch shorthairs work)

Pat Murphy runs a really nice place up there.

Is that a Realdog?  I took my shorthair to Pat before last season for a couple of months when she was 8 monthe old. Got her back just before pheasant opened and I was happy how she hunted her first season.  He loves to talk, but he is good with the dogs.

What kind of prices does NW Performance charge? I am moving up North and this might be a good time to have my Wirehair trained. Keep us updated on your dogs progress.

huntnfmly-I don't know who your daughter's dog is, sorry. I was talking about the pup in the picture, since the poster is from Enumclaw and I was wondering if the pup was from RealDog GSPs in Buckley.
I paid $ 1000/mo. with Pat and I was happy. Give him a call, tell him what you want and go from there...

Keep us informed on how your dog does. i'm taking my lab to get trained in the spring. I'm either going to take him to there or this trainer in Ellensburg.

Miles is, in fact, a Real Dog.  I met up with Scott Chaves (Real Dog Kennels) and Pat Murphy (NW Performance Dogs) at last years Sportsman's Show, in Puyallup.  Scott and I hit it off right away and my wife and I were extremely happy with how he and his wife operate their business.

Getting your dog trained by Pat is still around $1,000 a month, but I've seen a couple dogs he's trained and it looks to be well worth the money.

I'll be going up for my weekly workout, with my dog, on the 14th.  I can't wait to see the little guy.

Billy-
You are going to love that dog. Super birdy, trainable, and they have a sweet disposition, all the ones I have seen, including mine. I have a friend that has 2 and it's fun to hunt these dogs together. I will get another from Scott and Roxanne after this one gets a few years older.

I've been going up once a week to work with Pat and my dog.  Here is a short video of how he's doing after 4 weeks of training.  I was only able to record the retrieve, because I was the shooter.  But, as you can see, I'm more than happy with his progress.  On October 11th he will only be 5 months old!
