ballistic program on the phone
« on: September 16, 2010, 06:50:40 PM »
I've been playing with a (new to me) 375RUM/ 260gr accubonds lately.
Pretty much done with load work up, the 260's are running right at 3000fps with 101 gr of H-4831.
Tonight I was thinking that I might go up in the hill and stretch the range out this weekend so I went to JBM to print a drop chart out.
When I was printing out the chart I got a idea, my wife bought me this Fancy blackberry cell phone with unlimited web so I checked and you can get on JBM with the phone. You'd have to have cell service but it will be fun to play with in the field, especially for wind drift.
I've been using JBM for my  drop charts out over 12000 yards for years, if you plug in the correct numbers it's pretty close and close enough to get on paper way out there so you can fine tune a drop chart.
I just read what I typed and I am a gun geek :P

i think we are all gun geeks ;)  i have and iphone with an app that is a pretty decent ballistics program.  i havent used it for anything other than my handgun hunting (less than 150 yds) but it has been accurate so far...

i just ordered a 375 ruger #1, so i plan on using the app again for much longer range.  :IBCOOL:
