I've been out of town for a bit but starting to catch up on some of the posts on this thread.  I'd like to start off with agreeing with a prior comment

I like the idea of a cap of pics of dogs while on the stand.  I got to thinking how many dogs I called and how many I just killed last year.  I believe I shot 65 last year on this contest and it would be safe to say less than half were called.  Yet, somehow that doesn't bother me any.  I'm with Carp, kill em all.

Anyhow, to mix this up a bit more after some ribbing between me and SWAG last year on how many dogs killed and how many shots HE fired, I'm going to keep a running total of both and think it would be fun for anyone else who wants to to do the same.

For example, I had forgotten about this and today ran across this guy




I hit him about 150 yards, he started the slow spins and I gave him one more.  Swag reminded me that that is 2 shots and one dog so I'll have to be more careful.   :chuckle:  But, I'm on the board....

Tuesday I picked up a fox pro game call at Cabela's and eager to play with the call i went out Thursday evening to do some calling.  on my third set at about 5:15 I saw an outline of something low to the ground about 200 yards out (pure luck that i saw it through my binos).  I did not know what it was but it was moving in towards the call.  I switched from a fawn ball to rodent distress and this bobcat moved into an opening to where i was able to ID it, but had very unclear shot window.  I raised my Mini14 and waited looking for a shooting lain.  Finally I saw enough of its body to take a shot at 160 yards!!!

I should mention that I really hate my Mini-14 for it groups like a shotgun...I missed :(
 
I'm not on a team yet (bradford forgot about me  :dunno:) so dont think this one would have counted for points any how  :dunno:.

PS. The photo is from one a buddie took last weekend (prior to the start date) 35lbs bobcat out of Vail Tree Farm.

would be nice...in the last line i stated that my buddie got a cat.  I missed mine yesterday.  I am still kicking myself in the ass  :bash:.  Only the second bobcat i've ever seen and fourth cat i've seen.

Got back late tonight after working these guys into the call. One was killed at 130 yards the second one killed just short of 50 yards staring at the mojo decoy.  :IBCOOL:

Friday ended up being pretty good.  Played with one out at 300 yds, just trying to see what was interesting to him, once we figured that out the rest of the day was pretty successful.  Saturday was a completely different story.  Two different types of E-callers and numerous hand calls never phased them.  400 - 450 yds was as close as they would come.  We did have one come shooting through late in the afternoon in the 120 yd range while we were watching another one off in the distance :bash:  Bottom line, we need a weather change.  Too nice of weather with an abundance of field mice at their disposal.  Hopefully this next weeks forecast will help.

Another pair, same day.  One went left and one went right.  They were working a flock of turkeys.  I wish I'd have seen that before I jumped them.  That might have been fun to watch.
