So I just found this thread.  AWESOME!!!! You guys have inspired me to try Coyote hunting.  Where can I see the totals?  Are they posted anywhere yet or is it just kept by the moderator for a grand finale viewing?

Today I had to go home and let my dogs out for a potty break. On my way back to work I saw this pup out mousing and let the air out of him about 80 yards or so. I'll have a photo up later.

Okay here he is and this "WAS" a target of opportunity, but he was out messing around the cattle so I figured I better eliminate the potential problem before it was too late. Don't feel right to me to just blast one, without giving it the chance to come scrambling to the dying wabbit blues but sometimes you just gotta do what you can to help the ranchers. This one was taken with my wifes 223 AR15 ultra lightweight carbine sporting an EOTECH sight and wow is that thing a shooter. One 50gr Nosler Ballistic Tip rolled him over real nice.

So add one more for Team SBA

I'll be happy when this damn wind stops blowing and the dogs start moving, it should be very productive in the next few days. There will be some hungry dogs out there no doubt  :IBCOOL:

I can see FALfire now at the Catholic church giving a confession.  "Forgive me father, for I have sinned.  I saw this lonesome coyote and the temptation just came over me too greatly.  Usually I have the strength to keep pure and away from such things but this situation was a little different.  You see, this coyote had really big teeth and kept looking at my neighbors cows and licking his lips.  I was trying to be neighborly and do what I could to protect his property, even it it put my own personal standards at risk and open myself to criticism.  For you and I both know that the only Christian way to kill a dog is to call one in.  I was wondering if there were any real exceptions you would see favor with?  For what I did certainly may sound so "Gringoish"  :chuckle: at first glance, I want you to focus on the fact that this coyote had a piece of chalk and was drawing out prime steak cuts on the hide of my neighbors prime, 4-H award winning steer.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, his kids....they would have been SOOO upset and I don't think I could have lived with myself.  Granted, I thought about this for quite awhile.  It by no means was an easy decision.  I decided that to balance this dilemma I would take the wifes 223 to gain some research and to practice my mad stalking skills.  So please forgive me father.  I did succumb to the temptation of an "opportunity" dog.  I really was only trying to help my neighbor, protect his kids from certain hardship, research the wifes equipment in the field, sharpen my stalking skills and if it helps.....I didn't like it and I feel dirty."

Falfire and I went out this afternoon for a couple of sets, on the second set the e-caller batteries went dead so falfire grabbed his hand call and had this one standing there 175yds out within a minute.  Should have had him hand calling on the first set as quick as this one came in.  He was really close by.  Pays to be silent.  One more for SAGEBRUSH ASSISSINS.
