On a sad note I had to go up north for a funeral. While I was there I found a few hours to go out and make a few stands. My friend Kenny and I set up in some rocks and before I even started calling we heard a few dogs howling somewhere out in front of us. There was a pretty good chance of seeing a bobcat in the area that we where hunting so I started with bird calls and kept that up for 20 min with no response. I switched to pup distress and within about 30 seconds i say a head pop up on the skyline about 400 yards away. I was going to take the shot because the only way that dog was going to get to me was to take a 100 foot leap off a cliff. I thought a 55 grain NBT might give him the nudge he needed. Anyway, he turned a left and my opportunity was gone. I turned to call to max volume and then started challenge howling like crazy in an attempt to get him to take one more look. After about 30 seconds of that I Caught movment out in front of me. I looked over to Kenny, who was sitting 20 yards to my right, and gave him a lip squeak.
Not 1 not 2 not 3 but 5 dogs where running on a line right to Kenny and I. When they got to with 75 yards I shut down the caller in an attempt to stop them but they just kept coming. All 5 of them came to with 20 yards with the closest being about 10 yards and right in between Kenny and myself.. Kenny and I shot the same dog at the same time and after that first shot we managed to put down 2 more. 5 cam in and three hit the snow. I was one of the coolest moments of my life. I was so mad that i didn't bring the shotgun. What a fun hunt! All three of the dogs that we killed where males and the first one we shot was a big dog with worn down yellow teeth. What a day to forget the video camera.

Might as well quit yote hunting.....
It just doesn't get any better than that...

Wow! Sounds like great times. I could simply go for one dog or better yet one that would come in to the call. They all seem to have no interest at all in what I am selling.

I have been watching this dog for about a month. He is always in a area that does not allow for a safe shot! How ever today was my lucky night and his unlucky!

Went out about three this afternoon about 1 1/2 miles behind my shop. I had seen them numerous times, but it's really hard getting back there without being spotted because of the big hill tops. Then since they have been mating the last week to 10 days around here it has made it almost impossible to call. I decided there had to be a combination or sequence that would get their attention and I was bound and determined to find it. Don't know if that sequence will ever work again, but because of the big long hills and ridges I was able to range the location of where he came from at over a 1000 yds. He came up along the hill side across the draw and stopped at 141 yds. I figured that was good enough and dropped him. It was fun watching him come in the whole way at that distance, stopping only once at which time I gave him a little coaxer.

Monkey off the back. After losing the last two after what I thought they were good hits I piled one up, and christened a new .243. Hornady superformance 58 gr Vmax opened up a 4 inch hole though. Have you guys that shoot 243's found a good bullet that doesn't destroy the hides? I reload so any brand or weight I can try. Anyway, score one for team Annette. I was alone so here is the cell phone self photo.

Nice job on the yote Eyeguard. As far as a load for the 243, I'm going to try the 55 BT's, my problem is putting down my 22-250 long enough to grab the 243. My 250 is just so dang accurate I hate to leave home without it. Keep whack'in them.
