First time effort...results.
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:46:12 PM »
Here are a couple of pics from my first effort, ended up with just the deer & coyote and a large collection of a fern waving at my camera.   But it is a learning experience, so not disappointed at all.  Relocated the cam to another trail on the edge of a clearcut, so hoping for some new pics next time.

Thanks, I am happy with the results.   The deer pics could be a little brighter, at least on my monitor I could not tell if it was a buck or a doe.   I used a photo editing program and brightened up one of the pics to see it was a doe.   So even if an animal is at the edge of the IR's range like this doe was, I can at least do some editing to identify it.   Here is one of the pics of the doe that I edited.

Just curious about something, in all the pictures from this set, the deer and coyote are clearly looking at the camera.   This is an IR flashless type camera, so no visible flash.   Any thoughts why they clearly know that it is there?

The daytime pics were very clear and bright.  However, due to being inside the tree line and under the tree canopy, the IR mode kicked in, so they turned out black & white.   But on the bright side, I had some awesome crisp & clear black & white pictures of a sword fern waving at my camera in the wind!!

I moved it yesterday to a trail alongside a stand of trees/clear cut, facing out into the clearcut.   When I go check it, I am hoping that the lighting issue from this set will not be there and I can see what the true daytime picture quality is.

But based on what I have seen so far, I believe they will be very good quality especially since the camera shoots at 1.3 mega pixels in IR mode and jumps to 3.0 mega pixels in standard daytime mode.  Hopefully by this time next week I will have some more pictures from this new set and will post them.

Good luck, and as far as I am concerned, these are a very good combination of performance and quality for the price.   I don't think you will be disappointed if you do purchase one of these, I certainly am not.   My plan is to pick-up 3 more over the course of the winter for next year.

So good luck, and be sure to post your results on here.
