Mid-hunt blues.
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:13:20 AM »
OK this is a short whine.  I am hunting muzzy by mountain biking into Weyerhaeuser land that's not currently being logged. I scouted all spring and summer.  I had two trail cameras out from April to now.  I had identified 9 shootable bulls plus 3 distinct spikes.  Cows too. Then on Sept. 7 they all disappeared.  No elk (and fewer deer) on the cameras, no tracks, no elk sign of any kind. There is an increase in horse back riding, quad riding and one as*hole on a dirt bike.  In the past they usually just go nocturnal and deep in the reprod but there is still sign that they are there.  This year they are gone.  Last year they were around all of archery season and you could locate with a bugle.  This year silence.  It's like someone came in and lifted them off the face of the earth. It sucks.  I have three days left to hunt early muzzy and really wanted to talk to some elk.  Any thoughts?  Can anyone redirect me to somewhere else?  End of whine.  :'(  :'(
