I guess I'm laying my balls on the vise we will see , please kill him . Maybe I'm better at judging elk.

Me too!  But, I am a couse whitetail hunter from southern arizona, so everything looks big to me.  Just one of these days I want to be right instead of hunter4life...may never happen.  He is pretty good at this guessing stuff. :chuckle:

25" wide.   154" gross.   Really nice buck, but if you are going for score, that front end and mass just kill him.

I thought someone dropped you on your head JJ as I was looking at wasstickslingers 180 buck.   I rarely get underscored.  Then I realized there was another buck in the thread.   Yep, a 155 deer and a 180 buck if not 185.

165.

Why does everyone measure a buck by the outside spread?  The inside one is the only one that counts.

28", body is not huge but the buck is a monster - shoot it and don't look back.  Score ?  Wouldn't know, wouldn't care.   That's just me.

Because when someone asks how wide a buck is, they are talking about the outside spread. I know that it doesn't count towards the score, but it is another way of describing the size of an animal. For some people, width has milestones(like a 30"er) that are as important as score milestones(like a 180"er). I am not as picky, and will shoot anything that I think looks nice.

i'd like to see your score sheet if you get 155 , his rear forks look pretty good that second buck i'll bet goes 190-195.

Width is a very low factor on a gross score, dont get me wrong a wide buck looks awsome but the mass measurements make up the major factor followed by main beam lengths and g2 lengths, but none of it matters on this deer he looks awsome and I hope your wife gets a crack at it. That would make some good memories and stories. The day my ol lady shoots a bigger buck than me I will be more happier than if I had shot it :)

I don't think that is the first time you have questioned my scoring........ :chuckle:

Mass - 32"  (real weak here)
MB - 41"  (that is generous - the one beam is most likely 19")
G-2 - 28"  (14" aside is liberal)
G-3 - 17"
G-4 - 13"
Inside - 22"

If you want to give him a couple for G-1's.......155" gross.  Right in that ball park......

jj no ofence to you your deer knowlge isn't in question here. I my have figured to much spread credit but with real weak mass score i still have him at a solid 170 , I hope we get to see.  good luck to the hunter . I'd for surley pull the trigger.

I think this guy nailed it, but I'd shoot that smaller 4x just for his freakishly long brows, that's how much I love the trash.
