FIRST WILD BIRD!
« on: October 10, 2010, 04:44:29 PM »
Dad (Gobble Doc), and I went hunting in E. Washington yesterday, and I nailed my first wild bird! :IBCOOL:  It is a Gray Partridge, and I dropped it with one shot.  It was quite windy, and there was thick fog.  I flushed the bird a first time, and it flew with three others.  However, they startled me, so shot but missed.  Then, when I saw where they landed, I flanked them, and flushed them the second time.  This was when I got my shot.  I immediatly ran uphill from the downed bird, and then started walking down towards it.  I found it exactally where I had shot it.  I have no dog, so I am excited that I can do upland hunting without a dog.

Well done! Good eats for you tonight!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

We are cooking it as an appatizer tonight.  We stuffed it with apple slices, and then wrapped it in bacon and roasted it.  Should be good.
