First Alabama Buck on Camera
« on: October 11, 2010, 03:04:02 PM »
I have had two game cameras out for the past 3 months strait in various spots.  I finally found a spot that I have been getting consistant pictures of deer.  And in that spot I have found my first buck FINALLY!!!!  Other spots I've found does and one little 2x2 who likes to lick my game camera  :dunno:  So to celebrate my first buck on camera I decided to post him.  Bow season starts on the 15th.  Can't wait.

Cool - keep us posted on your season!  Make some mock scrapes and juice them up with James Valley Wall Hanger or Full Rut gel, and put a camera on them.

Hey bow4elk thanks for the advice. Excuse my ignorance but this is my first year with a tree stand and game cameras. I'm used to spot and stalk in the open country. So 1 how do I make a scrape and 2 when should I make this scrape. 3 how big should the scrape be and how much juice should I put on it. Thanks.

Thanks C-Money I got another pic of him I think but its not a very good pic. I'm not all that impressed with my Moultrie Cameras.  I'm gonna try for him this wekend. Finally get to deer hunt. Opening weekend I had to study for my final checkride. Last weekend was the wife's 10 year HS reunion. But no big deal I have until Jan 31st to shoot my 3 bucks. I also basically have the woods to myself apparantly no one down here hunts with a bow  :IBCOOL:

You should make the scrape now, I'd make it about 2' across and just kick the leaves and debris away from a spot as if you're pawing the ground. Make a couple of them in  a line right around other real scrapes or just hunt the real scrapes. The bucks will check them and freshen them up every so often. You're gonna want to be in bow range of one of those scrapes when Mr. Big shows up.

Thanks for the tip Jack. What do I put on the mock scrapes? Hey C-Money sorry to hear about you luck. I knew true spike wouldn't work but the were never listens. I don't know how worse of that herd can get before they do the right thing. Unfortunately as long as there are a bunch of cows to keep numbers up they'll kept spinning that herd as stable to the public.

In any case ill pm you a good spot I know.
