I've had both 26" and 24" .338wm's. They shot the load, 50FPS slower in the 24"
If I ever build another .338 it will have a 23" barrel.

don't sweat the barrel length....you can get fast short barrels and long slow barrels, and it will not be enough to make a fuss over.

Model 28 (The Ultimate Alaskan Rifle) - The Model 28 is our magnum action and handles the .338 Winchester size cartridges.  Even with powerful hand-loads, recoil is manageable and accuracy is astounding.  This is the rifle the serious hunter chooses when failure is not an option.
$3,400 (left-hand add $100)
5 3/4 - 6 lbs
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Looks like Remington used to have a "Ultimate Lightweight Model 700 Titanium" that was available in 338 Win Mag..........it appears that they discontinued it.  I guess they didn't get too many people wanting to punish themselves with a less than 6 lb rifle chambered in 338WM.... :dunno:
