I tried that with no luck. I have heard people go in before it is open and stash their finds and bring them out when they open it up to the public. I don't know though, but I can guarantee you will see a lot of game. The only time I have been there shed hunting we saw a couple mountain goats, coyote, deer and a ton of elk, just no horns for our effort. Good Luck

I would wait until May 1st, and then I would save my gas money and stay home, or go turkey hunting.  Advice.....flashlight at midnite I guess.

basing this advice on results from  last years may 1st trip?

i remember a few posting similar advice after their trips last year.

you can hike in. AS long as you dont cross into the SAFE ZONE. I have done it many times. John has stopped and *censored* with us asking if we saw anybody up in the zone looking around. Really good area for sheds up in bear canyon also.
