New deer hunter
« on: October 18, 2010, 06:48:31 PM »
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and really excited about the resources it offers. I'm 18 years old and looking to get into big game hunting. I've done pheasant hunting for 8 years or so and love being in the outdoors whether it be backpacking, hunting, fishing, etc. I'm going to try for deer this year. I live in the tri cities and am looking for land to hunt. Any suggestions? I'm looking into the dayton area, but all I could find on my scout trip was lots of private land or hiking into the blues. From what I'm reading on the forum, the blues don't sound too productive. My dad and I are considering hiking in at the teepee campsite and seeing if going to some more secluded terrain helps. Anyhow, any pointers on how/where to hunt deer in my area? Would love any suggestions, phone numbers of land owners, etc. Headed up Nov 6-13th. God bless.
Jared.

Hi Jared, I would suggest checking out the WDFW website. It will tell you where public land is. From there download google maps and check out what the terrain looks like. The further away from roads you get, the more big game you will see. Post stories and contribute and I bet there are people on here that wopuld help you out (I have never even been to Kennewick). Good luck to you, I just started hunting 3 years ago. My favorite past time

Thanks so much! I've been checking out the website pretty extensively over the last week and it has definately shed some light on hunting areas. I can't wait to get out there!
