Bear elevation on the east side
« on: October 28, 2010, 11:33:37 AM »
At this time of year with the weather getting colder, berries gone etc. Where will the bears be heading, up/down or what? I picture them denning up high, but that may be just my imagination.
I am mostly looking at eastside bears. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Where I have been hunting, they are still down low. I still have been finding great berries. Look for the shaded areas and hopefully you can find some berries as well. I actually was in bow range of a huge boar on Tuesday at 30 yds and passed on the shot becuase it didnt feel right. Now i keep kicking myself. Good luck

Last Tuesday I found smoking hot tracks in snow at about 3,000 ft.  Yesterday I was at about the same elevation, snows gone. The bear have been working over the elderberry bushes. There are still a lot of berries on some of these plants. All most all the bushes had freshly broken limbs.
