Idaho Bull Down
« on: October 28, 2010, 10:17:44 AM »
Me and a buddy headed up Friday, October 22nd for the last weekend of Idaho rifle hunting with the "B" tag. Caught this ole boy up on an open hillside, across a drainage at 547 yards. First shot humped him up and he tried making it down the hill so he was getting closer as he ran but it was some long range shooting. In a matter of 20 minutes (him getting up and laying down several times) my buddy shot 10 times and hit him 5 times with a .300 Weatherby (2 of which were right through the pump station). The rain set in shortly after and we didn't have a chance to look for another one but it was a heck of a trip! We had to bicycle behind closed gates 4 miles up to where we got him, then down through the drainage and up the other side. Made for a lot of work but it was all worth it in the end!

Good lookin bull, congrats!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

A moving bull at 400+ yards is a tough shot regardless...
