Small Buck Down (picture added)
« on: October 29, 2010, 08:41:13 AM »
Afternoon started with a nice drive around the woods with the wife and my 4 year old son, stopping here and there to walk some easy trails so my boy can keep up and pick up sticks, leaves, rocks.
Around 1700 I tell them we are going to check out certain clearcut until dark so I am driving to it when as the road forks and I am to take a left my son says “there was a deer looking at me over there” and points the road to the right, I look to my wife and said “what are the chances??” she said “he has excellent vision."  :dunno:                                                                                                                        I park the truck and we all bail out, walk about 50 yards and we see a doe blow by, we sit on a stump and sure enough here is a small spike sneaking up hill at 100 yards, I turned to my son to ask but as soon as I saw his eyes I knew he wanted that deer, I told him it was legal but a really small one and he said “it’s ok daddy, get him please” how can I argue with that!!!!
300 wsm, 165gr. Accubond put it down on the spot, pulverized half the liver and one lung, I should get about 70Lbs. of meat. I will post pictures tomorrow.
This was my son's 3rd time deer hunting in his life, I think I had to do it(take the shot) to get him hooked, now he won't stop talking about it. :chuckle:

Good for you. When the kids are with me I shoot any legal deer. It adds to their enjoyment of the hunt which in turn adds to mine. Good job Dad.

Excellent! I'm very jealous, my 4 year old went nuts when I brought home my 4x4 this year and I would have LOVED it if he would have been there with me!

For the opener I went to E. Washington but my son could not go, now I am glad I did not get anything then.
