Are you refering to Eagle Lakes Hunt Club. Private membership deal there. Last time I talked to them non-members could buy a one day guided or unguided pass onto their land for around $500 per day but that was at least two years ago.

Yeah I know. Not sure that was quite what he was looking for. :chuckle:

Do you have any info on Eagle Lakes. Their website is down (says they have a virus). They went through some changes in ownership a couple of years ago and I haven't been back since. Used to like taking the wife out to the restaurant but they closed that to non-members.

Yes, you can hunt Scootney Rez. There is a small pond as you drive in and I believe you can hunt it to. If you are not familiar with Scootney they draw it down 8-10 ft every year so there is not much cover around the edges. You can stack rocks for a blind though...so fun!
Scootney has a couple boat ramps, but be really careful if you plan on boating Scootney, plenty of high riser rocks ready to take your lower unit off.

And lastly you can keep an eye on the amount of birds sitting on Scootney if you reference the WDFW bird counts, Scootney holds right around 100-200 ducks per the count and quite a few more geese.

About 10 years ago Scootney used to be a decent place to shoot some ducks, then guys like Mike Bernson, Jaimie Pierre and Mike Franklin created more corn ponds in that area than one could count. ( Eagle Lakes alone has over 100) So getting a mallard anyplace but on a flooded corn pond these days is getting kind of tough.

As far as eagle lakes and access they are all pay by the gun and you go with a guide, there is no pass or buy the day or unguided type hunting or fishing like they used to do.

FYI, Franklin isn't smart enough to "create" a corn pond.  He leases his pond from Henry Fields five days a week.  The property is and has been for sale for a few years.  90 acres for 1.9 million.  Good luck getting a bank to back you on that one!

I saw that listing as well. Fell over laughing. What the hell is he thinking. Claims it is an income producing property so if you are fortunate enough to live to say 4,938 years old you might see a return.

Actually Franklin helped another land owner develop a really sweet corn pond similiar to fields. Mike doesnt have the money to buy his own dirt, but is paid back nicely with being able to guide on what he helped develop. In a few years eagle lakes and pac wings will be distant memories, as Mike Bernson has sold his eagle lakes ( he has hunting right for 8-9 years left) and after Franklin retires in a few years. Lots of California money flowing in locking up the decent ground. Scootney still sucks, if you dont believe drive over and check it out for yourself lol.

You can still sit shoulder to shoulder with a hundred other hunters on Bailie''s Ranch and try and pick off the ones they missed at Eagle lakes. Good luck getting a parking spot after 4am. :bash: Man this county has gone to crap over the last decade.

Be careful if you decide to hunt scootney.  There are a lot of drops offs under water
"I think I have a fish"
"probably bottom"
"bottom doesn't head shake!"
