Questions about late deer
« on: November 01, 2010, 06:58:20 AM »
Any know anything about the lake Sullivan area in unit 111  or 113 for late deer hunt. My friend has a disability tag and it's open to whitetails in 2 weeks. Just curious for a little info, it's too far to go scout this late in the season  and it will be our first time in that area.  I've been to republic many times just not that for east. Thanks for any pointers about road conditions places to start or hotels to stay at.

I'd try to do a little door knocking or get on craigslist and find a landowner . most of the deer will be low , leclaric creek area might be a good bet.

Thanks, I will start there. There is a handicap gate up there by the lake, I was also wondering if it was a joke like most of the handicap gates that people just drive around. Thanks again

That Selkirk (GMU 113) area is so thick that it is really hard to hunt. They did do some logging just south of Le Clerc Creek on state land. I have not scouted it so I do not know what is in that area but as far as visibility you need to get into some place that has been logged. Depending on what the weather does in the next couple of weeks you may not be able to drive very far from the county roads. I do not know where that gate is so I could not tell you if people have been driving around it or not.
