Season warm up ( just a reminder)
« on: November 03, 2010, 07:33:59 PM »
:hello: Dont forget , DONT SKYLINE YOURSELF getting into your stand .Go the extra mile or what ever it takes to get to your stand without giving the prey a upper hand .
Travel like a coyote does , use the low ground and whatever foilage there is available to hide your approach.
dont hurry and make noise, move slow and watch where you step . walk heal to toe its alot quieter .( I hate people who drag their feet).
dont get hung up when crossing a fence it makes noise.
use your butt pad to place on the wire so you can sling your leg and center your crotch over the butt pad( saves alot of money on torn camo).
If you have to use a gravel road to walk or drive down move slow and keep to the side out of the gravel
 ( crunch)
watch the wind !!!!!!!Dont forget about the thermals and how they work , If you dont know what im talking about do some research .
Dont start your stand with loud volume ( I have killed a ton of coyotes with a lip squeak)
Try to locate your stand where you have a advantage useing elevation .
Do not set up your stand at the TOP of a hill , get down a little way and it will hide you alot better .
Move your head as little as possible, Use your eyes only if you can ( dont worry youll see them coming) if you feel the need to move your head do it like a second hand on a watch very slowly.
well there is ALOT more i could add , but im not out to write a book , hope this helps some of you . Jerry .

Thanks Jerry for the reminders, it's easy to get caught up in the thrill of the chase and forget about the basics, especially in the early season.
Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.
That's how I roll...

Thanks Jerry.  I'm looking more forward to chasing dogs than hunting deer this year.
