Aggressive buck.
« on: November 06, 2010, 07:40:35 PM »
Went out to try to call some predators today. I was walking down an over grown road when I came across this little buck.  I am standing right in the road wearing my safety orange and he started walking right towards me.  I dont know what was on his mind but thankfully he veered off and beat up a little tree instead of me.  Guess he had something to prove.  Gotta love the rut.   :chuckle:

This is the second time I have had a young buck act aggressive towards me, where they could see me full on and knew I was human.  The first time I was predator calling.  This time I dont know if he wanted to fight or he was looking for some action.  :yike:  Kept flicking his tongue and waggin his tail.   :chuckle:

Here is the thread for the first time it happened.

He appears to have smelled another buck while scent checking that skid road.  You happened to be there  :chuckle:  Great video and photos.  That was a good looking buck!

I had two forkies sparring at about 3 yards last Saturday as I crouched in front of some brush.  I bleated the first one in, then the second showed up.  First time I've ever heard a blacktail snort-wheeze, and he did it three times.  Then the two dinkers squared up and started sparring.  Didn't want to fill he tag on a fork just yet so I stayed put and let them do their thing.  Wish I had my camera rolling.

I watched your other video clip and the sounds you were making sound a lot like fawn distress bawls.  Blacktails especially readily come to fawn distress calls, especially in the spring and early summer.  I've done some bear calling POW island in AK and was nearly trampled by aggressive does.  You could stand up and they'd still blow right past you at 5-10 feet.  They'd stomp and bound at us non-stop until we stopped calling.  Called in one good bear in the process but dang, the deer were insane!

Any predator call will work but I got mine from bearmanric on this site.  Just learn to blow some fawn distress on it and you will have all sorts of critters show up.

A local 3 point knocked down and poked a few holes in my daughter's 3-D buck target a couple of weeks ago.
