buckshot for coyotes

I won several boxes of Dead Coyote in a coyote calling contest, never bought any, still have about 60 rounds.

ya that is a big diffrence in price i just buy federal 4 buck that choke like the bigger stuff for some reason with about 10-12 pellets at 40-50 yard on paper plate i don't think it makes much diffrence if there is 10 in 4 buck or 20 with bb's they will still be dead  i have tipped a few at 60+ with 4 buck and don't know if bb's would do it  or not but at that price or i might have to try

Whichever choke it patterns best with. It should pattern pretty tight with improved cylinder or modified. Full is probably going to be too tight for #4 buck.

i would try mof or full i shoot mine threw a extra full but see which one works best for you. if you have muti choke set try them all and see what shoots the best

I make my own #1-0 buck shot with the DO-IT slingshot pellet mold.. It works fricking awsome! Lead tire weights work sweet for mealting cause they have a higher tin content and don't distort as quick... You can fit 9 pellets ina 2.75 shell and it put the hurt on a yote at 50yd with my modified that i use for duck hunting...  For super cheap i just open up trap shot from walmart and stack the #1 in I'm in each shot like $.30... I've used #4 3in on yotes out to 60yds with a turkey choke out of my  mossburg 835 it did well but is much more expensive. 
This was the cheapest place to by the mold i found on the net. good hunting, stackem like cord wood!

Thanks for your order and letting us know about how you found us. I wondered why we have had such a run on the pellet molds. We are out right now but should have more by Thursday or Friday. We will send yours by Priority Mail as soon as we receive our shipment. The mold you ordered is for 1/10 and 1/6 ounce. The diameter is .31 and .38. The other mold is 1/4 and 3/8 ounce with diameters of .44 and .50.

Going to start hunting coyotes in dec 2010. See you were from Yelm. Never tryed before but though I would give it a try. Retired military. Have spent a lot of time in the woods on Ft Lewis out by the tank crossing near yelm. saw a bear about three years ago while picking mushrooms, got me a little excited. I only had a pistol 44 Mag but he looked at me for a while then just walked away the bear didnt seem to worried about me. If you get a chance e-mail me give me some tips. lee1sfga@earthlink.net

Another vote for #4 Buck.

I have killed 4 coyotes so far with #4 Buck and an Extra Full Extended Turkey Choke out of my Benelli Nova 12ga.  My farthest kill with that combo was 52 yards.  I would recommend it to anyone.

#4 Estate buffered buckshot from Cabelas.  Dead coyote works great too but at 3.00 a pop is expensive.  Standard full choke works best for me after trying close to 4 others.  The next issue Nov/Dec 2010 of "The Backwoodsman" is supposed to have a pretty good article on some pattern test between the two.

I used a dead coyote choke made by carlson but but its say hevi shot on it and i use the T shot deadly out to 70 yards just like they claim it will works good killed three yotes with it.

When I was in High School, the ranchers in the area would pool their money and hire a guy to come over from Portland in a helicopter and shoot coyotes.  It was one of those open cockpit jobs, like you saw on the show MASH.  A shooter would hang out the door and they would fly around and blaze away.  They used shotguns, but I'm not sure what loads they used.  That was long before steel shot made the scene.  Those guys would pile up the 'yotes.  My friend's dad was one of the ranchers, and he said when he would ride the property horseback, he would find dead coyotes laying everywhere.

i will have to let you shoot my browing bobcat then you might cange your mind. i don't like bb's because they don't have the knock down power like lead. i have killed a few with them but will always shoot lead over steel.

Steel???  Did I say steel? I sure wouldn't use steel shot for coyotes either. I use lead BB's.

You can barely kill a duck with steel. Steel should only be used at very very close range. Bad choice.

I'd use BB, BBB, 2, 4 buck, or Dead Coyote.

I also have a 870 that I have used as a primary slayer or a backup for when your in the thick stuff. I use number 4 with a coyote choke that i picked up in the sale bin at cabelas ( pretty much a full choke). cheapest thing i ever bought there to date. cuts out the center of paper plates at 40 yards thou. i would just sample some ammo with the chokes you got with the gun and go from there mod is always a good one to keep on hand. i personaly like the tight group that i get out of my 870 but doesnt mean i dont bring other chokes out with me. why only bring one??  good luck and if you hit one with this set up under 20 yards good luck not lauging your ass off with your buddies!

i have killed many yotes with a shoty. lead is by far the best! no comparrision at all to steel. but to anyone that thinks steel will not kill yotes. yes it will kill them just fine i have shot atleast 6-7 yotes with 3.5 bb or bbb it can kill them stone dead 2. not with as much range or knock down as lead but steel will kill yotes.

My cousin killed a yote with lead #6 while pheasant hunting last weekend.. I tried to run him over as the pushers were working the food plot... He rolled it at 5 yards then gauge it a head shot at 10... dead yote.. Pretty tough when you think about it tho...
