Seeps Lake
« on: November 07, 2010, 11:01:47 PM »
Well I finally got out to do some duck hunting. This was my first time and I am still learning. I made the trek from the west side to the east to scout out some areas to hunt. I wanted to take my dog to an area that might not be to congested to see how she might behave. I did not want to bother others that might be in the area. I did get a late start, not arriving until 10:30am. Although, I did not encounter any ducks, I did see some high flying geese. What really prompted me to right this post was to report what I observed. Many lakes in the Seeps Lake region were posted with a caution sign stating that a pesticide was added to the water and that eating the fish, swimming and drinking the water was not advisable. Needless to say i did not let the dog near the water. I just wanted to report this to others so that they may further research the situation so they do not make the journey needlessly. I would hate to see something happen to someones dog. If anyone could shed further information on the pesticide treatment it would be greatly appreciated. After all this, I still had an excellent time with my dog. I let her run free in the adjacent fields. The smile on her face was priceless.

good to know. I ran into some fish and game biologists putting some chemicals into the lake I was fishing at this summer. The stuff they were using was "safe" according to them. With all the invasives in the water on the eastside you have to be careful about what they are putting in there, although unsafe for fishing/swimming might not mean unsafe for dogs. But I probably wouldnt put my dog in there either :dunno:
