Another Eastside Deer Tag
« on: January 15, 2008, 08:01:45 PM »
As we all know Washington has the Gov & Raffle tags. Well I've been reading my MDF that arrived today & it seems that if you go to the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo in SLC, Utah on Feb 6th-9th 2008 a Washington Eastside Deer tag will be available for purchase. Basically it sounds like another Gov Tag unless I was reading it wrong.

I found it, that is a good question?  I wonder as well?  Will there be two this next year?

I could be wrong but Washington has two Gov tags, one eastside and one westside.  The MDF is the actioning the eastside tag this year.  Not sure who is actioning the westside tag.

Thanks Bearmartin that clears it up. I didn't relieze that WDFW had given MDF the rights to auction this tag off. I'm assuming MDF is a non-profit org which leads me to think that they could probably induce a bigger bid on this tag since it would be a tax right off. Or am I wrong? :dunno:

I do think there is probably a tax break for the person who successfully bids for the tag.  Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Those foundations are also really good at getting the highest bid for items.  Get the big $$ guys there, get them liquored up, have some fun, next thing you know they paid 2x what they wanted for the item.  Best to leave these things to the professionals.

Now, if only WDFW would find a better professional outfit for its drawing process.

Some tags are tax deductible and some are not it depends if its a 501c3 charity or not. landowner tags are not but conservation tags are. I think governors are but I'm not 100% on that. The actual tax break is 30% of the amount paid because of the tax bracket the the buyer is most likely in (Top).  Im sure there is a tax lawyer out there who can break it down better than I can.

Is there a place to look at who bought the tags each year?
