the new bergers should be out anyday, the bc should be better then .900......300gr in a 338win is gonna need 8.5 or so to spin them though. the smk's should be pretty close too.

yeah same here 180s anybody have an idea how far necked out those new bergers are gonna have to be, will i still be able to use the magizine i know with my 300 win to get them to shoot i had to neck them out so far that i could only have one in the hole and on just sitting below the bolt not in the magizine?

good read, I would be skeptical that a 1:10 338 win could spin it, the rums and edges coud no doubt, but you would likely have to pull the bolt to load it......they gonna be looooong

depends n what powder you use, and what the gun likes. you may find that is does not need a comp load with a different bullet.

when you are chucking a .9 BC bullet, 10 grains of powder is not a hill of beans. velocity will always fall off, but bc is forever. shoot what the gun likes, not what you can stuff inside the case. if you get a load to go sub moa with a .9 bc and are any kind of shooter you have it made. think about it.....10 mph crosswinds don't mean enough to worry about at 400 on elk. try that with your 180gr bullet.....YOU JUST MISSED!

trajectory adjustments are easy to compensate for, especially when the BC is huge.......very repeatable

I shoot a 338 win mag out beyond 1,000 yds. I use 250gr. matchkings with imr-4350 68.6 gr. of powder. cci 250 primers. Very accurate load velocity 2774 fps. I have also used speer 225 spbt with reload-19 pushing 3050 fps and higher. Very accurate but had a hard time getting all the bullets to seed the same due to lead tips... Havent tryed any other bullets would like to shoot 225 accubonds due to the high BC. but cant push them at the speeds I desire... So the 250 matchkings give you enough energy at long range to pumble anything in its way... Good luck any ?'s PM me

I shot the 225 accubonds out to 600 a lot this year and I'm very sure they will do the job on a elk at that range. Your looking at 60" of drop at 600yds with a muz vel of 2882fps.  With 300gr match king running at 2400fps you dropping 77" has 1887 fps and 2371ftlb vs 1990fps and 1976ftlb with the 225gr

I haven't tried pushing the noslers any faster yet because I'm well under .5moa with the load. I'm using imr4350 but there are powders that can push them faster.

I have killed two bulls at 500 yards or so, with 210 Nosler Partitions (factory ammo), dropped one in his tracks, the other ran about 100 yards and laid down.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Interesting read on that 300gr Berger.  Link

Just read the link.  I have seen Bergers outperform many bullets in the field several times when it comes to long range accuracy.  After reading the link, I would not shoot anything else if you are planning shots beyond 600 yards.

I reload 210 partitions leaving the barrel at 2950 chronographed.  At 550 yds they drop 45 in.  I am thinking about going to the Accu Bonds for the BC.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
