Got busted today.....by a doe. now what??
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:55:44 PM »
Got busted today by a doe with a fawn.  She snuck over the ridge behind me and caught me about 50 yards away in the wide open.  I heard her right away, and instantly felt like an idiot for being where I was, turned around and had a staredown with her for about 5 minutes.  She snorted about 10 times and stomped her foot like crazy before turning back around and trotting off with the little one in tow.  In a situation like this is there anything you can do besides leave the area??  The wind was blowing so I'm not sure how far the noise carried, but its probably safe to say if anything was around they heard it.  What do you do???

I think it depends. If they were the only deer in the area then I would leave. But if I know there are more deer around I would stay. I would probably reposition so I could see the area that the appeared hoping that a buck would eventually follow her path.
