Popular late season archery hangout
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:11:55 PM »
Thought I'd drive to one of the more popular late season archery areas this afternoon.  The temp was 16, with between 3 and 12 inches of fresh snow on the ground.  I drove down one of the main roads at about 1300hrs, and about every 200yds, a small herd would be bedded in the middle of the road :o  This went on for close to a 3 mile stretch, and within 15min.  Counted 9 bulls in all and 23 cows/calfs.  The only lone elk was a nice 5x.  The other herds were between 4 to 10 deep, with one herd having 4 bulls.  Good luck tomorrow, gents.
