Our 2010 Elk Camp experience.....
« on: November 27, 2010, 10:29:18 AM »
Well Elk season for 2010 has come to a rainy end.  No meat for the freezers this year, but all in all a great time was had by all; guess that’s why we do this isn’t it?  Relatively new to this site but have enjoyed so much of the information and stories here. That said, I thought I might share a little bit of ours.  Second year in the Ryderwood area, plenty of good sign here this year, just couldn’t seem to find where the bulls were hanging out.  No one in our area had seen any antlers.  We set up camp on Thursday, modified and improved over the next day to be ready to weather the rain we knew was coming, and oh did it come.  Had my brother come out from Michigan for the entire season and took girlfriends 15 year old son to his first Elk hunting camp.  A couple of things we try to make sure of are a comfortable camp, out of the elements and great food, we accomplished that again. A couple of things that worked well at camp this year included the 10 X 20 kitchen tent that was modified to hold a wood stove, 24’ X 36’ super tarp, the hanging conduit horseshoe was excellent for drying gear, Cabela’s handing cupboards, four bricks and the 18 X 36 cooking grate and a make shift boot cleaner from a plastic tote with holes in the sides.

Below are a few pics from around camp, not sure how many it will let me upload but I’ll see what will happen.  Looks like the answer to that question is eight pics, will have to follow up with another post.

Appreciate any comments, ideas or recommendations about camp, elk hunting or anything else we might consider in the future.  Already looking forward to next year’s big game hunting camps.
