We get into our area that we had never seen before, just heard about it from a couple people people. we get in right at about daybreak and spend about the first 30 min looking for fresh track crossing the road. Didnt see anything that looked fresh enough to chase after. So we pull up the this clearcut, and decide to just take a walk back in there a little ways and check it out. So my Buddy walked in on one side of the ridge and I walked back in on the other. I walked in probably about 500 yds and didnt see any sign, so I turned back. I stopped at the crest of the clear cut and sat down and was just glassing the area down below me, it was flat land with a thin layer of 10' pines. Im sittin there for about 5 min. when I decide to blow a cow call, after I blow it the second time the Bull appeared about 200 yards down below me. I start heading down the hill keeping an eye on him, as Im walking down I watched him bed down. I get to the bottem where the short pines are and start moving quietly from pine to pine, getting closer and closer. I got about as close as I wanted to and pulled up the range finder just cause I could, he had not noticed I was there yet... Thats when the shakes started
It read 30 yds. so I put it back in my pocket and sat there for a minute to calm my self down. Then I pulled up and touched off. Got a good shot off, he jumped up and went about 15yds and stood there, started breathing real hard and then the front knees buckled. And down he goes
