Whatchya think? $600 lens... should be at least decent shouldn't it? For an all around for the family and a little wildlife stuff? I know its slow..... but....

range is good, but 6.3 is gonna hurt

Beware of the professional "reviewers" though.  Just take it with a grain of salt and look for trends in the comments you will read.  I have had a few Tamron lenses over the years.  I haven't had a real sharp one yet.  Good "meat and potato" lenses though.
