Columbia NWR - Goose Hunts
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:11:14 PM »
I posted this over on another site but figured I would post here and maybe be able to gather a little more info

After attempting to contact the office a few times and getting very little useful information I figured someone out there may be able to help me. I applied for the lottery this year and drew pick #1 on December 15th for the goose hunt. Through reading and a little searching I'm getting the impression that I was awarded blind #1 does anyone know if that is correct? It appears that its a self serve check in the morning of the hunt. I'm I correct with that as well?
Lastly can anyone give me insight as to how this hunt would be It appears there are 3 blinds in the field and I am wondering how the experience has been for others with this hunt do the birds use the fields in good numbers, what is the crop that is planted. I know there has been some weather up there lately has that pushed many of the birds out of the area?

PM's are gladly accepted thank you for your help.

Bryan

I have hunted there 4 times this year. Their were a big number of birds when i was there. but a lot of them seemed educated. Also the pick #1, is blind #1. That blind and #2 are the best there.

I'm also wondering with the cold weather if the birds moved out. I will be driving a ways to do this hunt and am really trying to decide if its worth it. My usual goose spots I hunt around here are just not very good this year. I'm also wonder if there is any thaw going on that may bring more birds into the area.

I honestly have no idea. I have not been out there since the 21 of November.
