A couple more pics and the story. Been hunting the same area for years 30+ in the late season. Over the years I have missed 3 or 4 much bigger deer. My Dad has connected with a couple of smaller whitetails over the years but other than 1 other whitetail this is only the second from this area for me. Just for fun I am posting my 1st and second buck. My 1st is the small 2 point, my Dad got the big Mulie, but I was in on that one as well. The last pic is my 1st Muzzy buck, he is also a unit 113 Buck but from 20 miles futher north. I wish I had a really cool story but the truth is hours of boredom, and miles of walking logging roads. This was followed by jumping a doe, threw the Muzzy to the shoulder and then the Buck jumped up and took off. They were close like 20-30 yards, lucky they took off at a 45 degree angle up the hillside. The shot was about 45-50 yards and how i missed all the trees is totally beyond me. There was no time to find a "good lane", or pick a spot. I really believe the peep sight sealed the deal, and a whole crap load of luck. When I shot I didn't hear the Boom Whop that we hear down in the wheat fields. But he did run funny, my Dad said "you hit him hard" I replied your F-ing kidding me, no way. Then only 3 or 4 bounces after I shot he fell over (still in the smoke cloud) and slid down the hill right at us. OMFG I have choked way easier shots than that. 3 deer in 35 years is about average for my family in unit 113, yes there are some nice ones but they are few and far between. The last pic is the hill side he was running through when I shot.
