How has the rabbit hunting been for you?
« on: December 12, 2010, 04:40:01 PM »
I've been out rabbit hunting a few times this year in areas that have typically been pretty productive and I haven't seen anything. I'm just trying to figure out if the hunting has been slow every where, or if I just need to find some new spots.

You talking hares or cottontails
Cottontails not to bad for me not as good as some years but then again it is just me and the two dogs chasing them as my friend dropped out of the rabbit hunting this year (something about his wife thinking he was gone from home to much)

I think my spot has been picked over.  Im still seeing plenty at night but mostly bunnies and all are really skittish.   :bash:

Im not sure how it is elsewhere but around here (Grays harbor) this has been the best year I can ever remember for bunnies. I havent really been out hunting specificly for them but it seems like everytime you go down a backroad you see bunnies. In fact Ive seen far more rabbits this year than grouse and its usually just the opposite. Im thinking that might be why Ive seen more bobcats this year than any other year.  :dunno:

I think that the predators must be taking a chunk out of the rabbits in my areas. I am seeing more bobcat and coyote tracks than I used to. I quess it's time to do some exploring and find a new spot. :dunno:
