How is the Quincy Release site?
« on: December 05, 2010, 10:20:23 AM »
Just realized that we have a couple places RIGHT next to the quincy release site. It would be a great place to take the girlfriend and dog for a weekend. I drove by it yesterday and saw a few trucks. Our house is on the same road as the colockum golf course. It looks like all of the gates entering the area are closed and thats fine with me. This is the same area that holds burke lake, quincy lake, and a few others correct?

Just wanted to know how the area is. I will be heading down there soon to get the pup out. Maybe shoot some ducks as well.

Any info is appreciated.

bunch of guys sitting in their trucks waiting for the birds to be released....WOW, that's hunting. Pretty pathetic. And yeah, most of the birds are gone pretty much within hours of being released.

The birds that dont get shot get killed by the yotes and hawks pretty quick. We have been out hunting and had the dog actually catch the birds without shooting them, they are very dum birds!

When were you out last?

How do people just wait on the release? I know around here, its pretty secretive. I'm sure that there  are still a few stragglers that don't get shot. Seems like they would have enough cover there to sustain a population?

Around here its usually on a wed morning, and folks are known to follow or look for the truck.  loyd seeps is a major release sight.  along with rd 12, 14 ,16, and white trail rd.

Its about the same with all of the release sites...the birds dont make it past a week or so even if they dont get shot...they just dont have it to make it in the wild...id say its always good to take the dog out, but a few days after a release go out without high hopes..maybe get into some quail... Good luck!

I had a friend that went out with some cops a few years ago, because the cops new when they were being released. The basterds shot like 6 or 7 each. That still makes me mad. >:(
