Two Yakama Indians sentenced for killing eagles
Associated Press
YAKIMA — Two Yakama Nation tribal members were sentenced to six months in federal prison for killing and selling bald and golden eagles.

Alfred L. Hawk and William R. Wahsise, both in their 20s, both pleaded guilty to taking, selling or transporting eagles. They were sentenced Friday in federal court in Yakima.

Prosecutors say they killed more than 100 eagles around the reservation.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported the poverty-stricken men relied on subsistence hunting, but they are now barred from possessing guns.

This is good! to bad it took something that's important the their culture to act.
Granted the ability to cause a A nuclear explosion that produces a rapid release of energy from a higher power resulting in the sudden and catastrophic demise of a thread.

Just like the eagel that was shot over by Forks and is now in rehab for a broken wing.  No way that was a non-tribal shot.  But the 6 oclock news said it was 'hunters' that had illeagely wounded the eagle bu shooting it in the wing.  The bird will su rvive but will have to be kept in capativty.

And the tribals wonder why there is a growing divide between 'us' and 'them'.
