Kapowsin Bears
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:03:36 PM »
This will be my first year bear hunting and hunting on the Kapowsin tree farm. For you guys that have been hunting in there, what kind of population does the farm have? I'm making harvesting a bear my 2011 hunting goal. I've been hunting since I was 11 and have taken quite a few whitetails growing up in Kentucky but have never had the chance to hunt bears. I'm active duty Air Force and have been stationed here quit a while but have been deployed with not much time to hunt, this will be my first year in a long time that i will get to spend time in the woods all year long without worry of being deployed. So I forked out the money for a permit. I hope it pays off, the tree farm is only a few miles from my house. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I intend to do just that rasbo, do the bears here ever really hibernate here, I was driving around in there this weekend and I'm pretty sure I seen a few tracks along the road. I have read they don't sleep very long on the west side.

When I was cruisin timber in there I remember seeing a bunch of sign on the flats just above carbonado by whatever the hell entrance that is up there on the North side.  :dunno: Not near as many people were up in that area when I was there, but that was a few years ago. BUT there was bear sign in almost all the young to middle aged timber. Good luck this year.

Thanks ponyboy, I'll have to head over that way, I'm just now getting to know the area but it looks pretty good so far. I don't know much about bear hunting but I'm gonna give it hell.
