Three day weekend hunt
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:07:12 AM »
I had no class on firday so it was game of for a full three day weekend of duck hunting. Started out friday morning with my roommate on the Columbia. Lots of divers and very few mallards. Most divers were holding up in the rafts in the middle of the river. Had one unlucky bufflehead land in our decoys. Decided to pack up the show and take it to a little honey hole. Then we found the birds. On the way out jumped a group of teal, got one gwt hen. Then got limits in about 45 min when out at the spot. One of the best days of shooting for me. Although they were divers they still eat well and shoot just as fun! Saturday morning was a game plan of staying away from the river and decoying the honey hole. Got a few divers and one green head and a BONUS GOOSE. Another successful day. Sunday was a little slow out of the house due to the 6 guys that i had lined up to go canceling on me. Stayed at the house and went out for a mid afternoon jump hunt. Got a goldeneye and a bufflehead. All in all a good time!

limiting out of Friday. My first limit ever!

Is that first duck on the left a Ruddy Duck? Sure looks like it but can't tell for sure. Congrats on the first limit that's a great memory.

Yeah we got a couple ruddy ducks. I always see them at that spot.
