A quick evening hunt!

 Well I finally got out on a hunt. It felt like I hadnt gone hunting in 2 months, it was killing me. So I headed out to my property for an hour and a half. The wind was going at least 25 mph through the valley and the rain felt like I was under a cold shower. But the birds were working, trying to find a sheltered place or something. To make a long story short. I only had about 22-2 3/4 2 shot shells in my blind bag. And within 15 min. I had shoot 14 times and not a single bird to show for it. I started to think I wasn't adjusting my shots for the wind like I should. So I just let the birds get a little closer and that did the trick. Over all it was a really fun hunt! Well done!!!!!! Great looking birds Whitenuckles.

It is amazing how a strong cross wind will affect your pattern. I wonder if anyone of the members have experimented with shot patterns during a windy day to see just how much affect the wind has at different distances. Would be really interesting to see the results!!! I know I have been out in a really good wind and tried to shoot a cripple that was sittin still and missed on the first couple of shots because the wind blew the shot pattern to the left of where I was aiming. Actually had to "lead" a bird sittin still to finish it off.  :P

That would be interesting to see. Hopefully some of the duck nutz on here have experimented with shot sizes. I need the help for sure!!LOL
