Watch out you don't melt the barrel off that new 25.  Thats a great dog gun.  Its supposed to hit 70 this weekend so that ought to get them out of the ground.  Good shootin!

The guy just plowed the field that is the source for my spring entertainment.  I'm not sure what that does to them.

Saw 3 or 4 of them in Ellensburg last weekend in a field right next to the road and Dairy Queen.  Was trying to figure out if I could shoot them with my bow from the DQ parking lot!  (J/K.  Though I am sure I could get permission from the landowner for archery only)  It is a pretty small field on that side of the road and they were not the least bit scared of me standing there at 20 yards away!  They did not move until my dog saw them and barked.  That got them scurrying!

Its kinda hard on arrows, but I've done that with Rockchucks.  Back in the day with the lighter gear, I got an arrow through one and somehow didn't pss through, and the thing tried to go back down its hole but couldn't because of the arrow.  Kind of funny but morbid.  He died shortly after.   I bet that gets stinky after awhile because they usually go back into their holes and die.  Anyhow, hard on aluminium arrows.  Carbon would be much better for that sport.

I've been on this trip in years past and Iceman has it nearly correct with the icons. I'd go thru about 1000 rounds of 22 ammo, and about 250 to 500 17 rounds along with a few .45ACP, .357 mag, .410 etc rounds.

Richardson ground squirrels, not prairie dogs.

The slaughter went well. We were blessed with great weather every day. Plenty of places to pronghorn hunt identified. Should be an excellent year to hunt next to a water hole this fall since northeast montana is so dry. Not sure I will put in for the tag but think we will as a group. Pronhorn might as well be rats up there since there are so many.

Did not see one prairie dog. Did kill a few hundred richardson's ground squirrels. Could have zapped a fox but let it go because I don't think it was legal. Also saw a badger, elk and some nice deer.

We had great hosts on the ranch. Fantastic family. Big hound hunter and good people. Elk for dinner. Yum.

Don't have many pictures except a few graphic ones.  I hope they get some hard rain up there asap. It felt good to really let loose. That kind of shooting is so good for the ranchers and also fun for the hunters.

Made the Great Falls gun show. Ho hum.
