Highway 2 Trestle Snow Geese?
« on: January 25, 2011, 07:10:38 PM »
I read that people have hunted ducks and pheasant in the field and slough to the south of the highway 2 trestle, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to hunt snow geese over there.  It's a pretty big area and I see orange vests down there all the time, but I've never seen snow geese down there.  Also, I think this is public land, but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't waste my time trying.  There were some earlier in the season, but not necessarily in that location.

I am trying to figure out how the authorization works.  I put in for the authorization and it said to wait 10 days.  I'm not looking to hunt this year, but I will next year.  I read that you only need to have authorization on the weekends.  Can someone explain to me how this works.  Thank you in advance.

You can put in for the draw, which is on Saturdays only for Fir Island and a few locations in Stanwood.  It is open the other 6 days for first come first serve hunter access.  This may change for next year, so make sure you check out your Sept. waterfowl regs or view on WDFW website.  You can also put in for your snow goose card, which can be picked up at your local license dealer for .50 cents.  The birds were all spread out this year.  The good shoot were a few days at a time, but with no real consistency this season.  Good luck.

H2o is right!!
I work  close to the field your talking about and have never seen Snow Geese there. There are a few that come into the Snohomish Valley though, saw about 500 this morning.  :)
