Waders
« on: January 24, 2011, 02:32:38 PM »
I was in Cabelas the other day and a guy tried returning 3 pairs of well used waders he'd bought in 2003. I couldn't believe it. They didn't let him and he was darn mad. People never stop surprizing me with the stupid things they do. What ever happened to accountability?

He was in front of me at the return counter.

My truck is getting old. I think I'll return it for a full refund then buy a new one. I'll just keep doing that for the rest of my life. That way I'll never have to fork out any more money. What's wrong with that?

That is a big sales pitch at colbelas. I bought two pair of boots from them. The guy said he did not care how long I had them just bring them back. He said 5 or 10 years down the road he'd have to pro rate them for a less of a return. After 18 months I tossed those suckers in separate dumpsters so they couldn't hurt nobody Else's foot. I sure wished I'd have taken them back. But I must say that some people will return anything.

Use to work at lowes and they will return anything, from a used plunger to toilet seats that have been used for a couple months. One day these russians brought back a shopping cart full of stuff they had bought a few days before to do a tile job. Tile saw, broom, garbage cans, etc. etc. At first they said there was nothing wrong with it they just didn't need it any more. When the manager said no to them returning it they tried saying the tile saw didn't cut straight. Manager called up the flooring guy's and had them bring up a couple tile and right there at the return desk they cut a couple tile and put a square on the cuts and perfectly square. They were a little pissed that they wouldn't let them return the stuff and kept saying "what are we going to use this stuff for". It was pretty funny.

cabelas used to take just about anything of theirs back for any reason.  that changed sometime in 2009.  now you need a receipt, and they put limits on how old items are.

in 2008 i traded in a pair that i bought in 2005, got the full credit for them and bought a new pair.  tried the same thing about 6 months ago and got scowled at, then told that their "legendary warranty"(which is supposed to be lifetime on clothing and footwear) is only good for a year.  to me, that was the big incentive of paying $250 for their chinese made waders, so i'll buy elsewhere from now on.

I agree...  Some people really suprise you.  People did the same thing at Costco.  Buy the biggest, best TV watch the superbowl then take it back.  Any store that allows returns have to deal with people like that.

I think it is 3 months now with receipt.  They lady mentioned that they see a lot of returns as individuals will buy an entire outfit for hunting and return it after the season.  Gets expensive if you buy a complete Sika outfit and return it.  They are trying to stop those individuals from striking.

Any time people abuse the system like that, it costs all of us over the long haul. Prices would be less if these stores didn't have to put up with that. If you're not satisfied with an item, return it right away. Not after you've used it for a year or two.

Someone already said it but they changed their return policy not too long ago. I believe most items are 90 days now except some Cabelas brand items may be 1 year.

Exactly i agree 100% just makes it that much more of a hassel for the rest of us.!

Agreed. They also make it hard for those making a legitimate return tougher. I had to go through the 50 questions to exchange some broadheads that were the wrong weight.

Good call Duckhunter. I never thought about my empty shot shells that missed. I've got a lot of em for sure.
What if I didn't buy em there. Oh, never mind, it doesn't matter. Just return em. They'll just raise the price of everything else to make up for. Don't worry about it.
