Welcome back present
« on: January 29, 2011, 12:50:11 AM »
Well I haven't hunted ducks or geese for 17 yrs, damn that's a long time lol.  I moved to the Tri-Cities in September, and was finally talked back into the game!  I went out last Sunday morning with a buddy that I met over here (off of this site by the way).  It was a SLOW day birds wise, but man was it TOTALLY worth it.  We didn't get many birds, but one of the ducks that I did shoot just happened to be a Red Breasted Merganser  :yike: !!!!!  Not a complete shocker if I was back on the wetside hunting along the coast, but in the Tri-Cities????  Needless to say he is at the Taxidermist  :IBCOOL:  I thought the Taxidermist was going to blow a gasket, as this is apparently his "holy grail" duck.  I am glad I was finally talked into going out again, it was a lot of fun, and definately something that doesn't happen around here to often I'm told.  Too bad the damn season is over on Monday  :'(

Right on! I've only seen red breasted mergs on the coast once. Normally we see the big common mergansers if we see any.
Everyone shoots three times per bird, right?
