E-Caller or Mouth calls?

Ok, i went out do do some calling today after work,  i set my ecaller and mojo kritter up,  and sat about 60 yards away,  i let it call for about 30-35 min before i gave up,  before i set the ecaller up i heard yotes howling,  once it strted calling the coyotes shut up and i didn't see a thing,

once i turned the caller off i decided to try my mouth calls,   (i think my mouth calling sounds alot better than the e caller)     well once i started to call,..  i got instant results,  got lots of coyotes to answer my howels, and got 3 coyotes to come in with 80 yards, (of coarse i didn't get a shot off)   but it was pretty cool



i honestly like my e-caller for only one reason,... its easy to set up and i don't have to call when i'm lazy,

i love doing mouth call,  its so much more interesting,.. and it makes me feel like i ocoplished something when a yote comes running in.


what about you guys?  do you guys prefer mouth calls for e-callers?  and why?

If I only had one I would use the ecaller but normally I use both on a stand.  I start the set with my ecaller 3/4 volume and let it run for about ten then I crank it up to full.  After 20 minutes my ecall sequence starts over and has two minutes of silence so I usually throw in some very loud aggressive distress with the hand call.

I will use both my hand howlers and the e-callers this time of year. They are hard to call right now and I have not had crap respond to distress sounds right now. I like the howlers because I can say what I want to say, when I want to say it. If that makes sense to ya

i use both. Hand call more emotion in it. many time's i started hand calling 20 minutes or so  and something would show. i'm leaving tuesay for arizona and new mexico coyote calling. will be using alot of hand calling and pup distress at low volume. Rick

I normally use BOTH on every set .get them coming with a mouth call and e caller on very low volume , then put them where you want them with the e caller .
Ill try to explain this the easy way .
Set your caller 30 to 40 yrds out , put it where you will have a clear shooting lane , and make sure you can see it .
set the volume where you can just hear it from your set ( unless calling BIG ground, then use more volume BUT not to much ) .
Let caller play 10 minutes . if nothing shows get on a mouth call and call with more volume then the e caller is producing .One short series , shut up . Repeat if necessary .

If you got those coyotes within 80 yards you should have been able to steer them into your killing field  with the ecaller .

The biggest mistake i see callers make is not being prepared to shoot quickly and at diffrent angles from the set . You have to be in a position to take the shot no matter where they show up , thats the trick to setting up your stand .

I use both and I agree - it is much more satisfying when you call something in with a mouth call. A real sense of accomplishment knowing it was your own skills. But I do like the e-caller too knowing the sounds are more consistent, especially howls, and also when I am tired or short of breath from calling. Plus sometimes being up at 0-dark-thirty blowing the calls and being so close to the loud noise gives me a headache! Sometimes I like to just lay back, relax and push the button! But I have seen a dog ignore the PowerDogg and then come a running to the LilDog mouth call.
