LETS SEE SOME PICTURES! This spare bedroom needs some renovating!! i have a futon that will stay but that still leaves plenty of room for activities! thinking one wall will be made into one huge shelfing/cabinets area another will have a bench with peg board behind it and cabinets above and the wall opposite the futon i will make a chest i can store stuff in and sit a tv on top of. looking for a nice little gun cabinet but everything is to dark and wont work with my floors and walls and what not. give me some ideas people!!!

love it, perfect man cave in my opinion.
my plan is to remove the doors from the closed and build the reloading table into there, hopefully opening up enough room to walk around the futon when its laid out for when im in the dog house.

Those pictures were taken right after my daughter moved out and I claimed the room. It's filling up fast. I still need to build on to my reloading bench, extend it to the corner so I can mount the turret press.

I decided on a bench design, i found it on the internet. very over priced, i will make it with my grandfathers help as a bonding project. i asked the owner of the company for some dimensions and he was kind enough to tell me what stain they used... any whoo i figure instead of having a butcher board table top i will use 4 horizontal 2x6s the fancy back board will go and be replaced with nice peg board and the two shelf's in front of it will be adjustable for height. love the contrast in light and dark color! the company i found the idea at is americanworkbench.com really nice stuff just to spendy for a cheap *censored* like myself.

it will look no where near as nice as that but that is my basic idea so everyone knows what im going for. most likely will not be stained unless i get really board with it.

Wow.....

yeah like i said, mine will be no where near that quality. and now i think about it, i think i will try to construct a 2x6 that can be clamped down on the front that will have press trimmer and eveything mounted on it and that can be un clamped and stored below it to try to be more space efficient instead of adding on more bench room. god i think im in over my head.
thank god for grandfathers that have 40x60ft wood shops

Harold that's going to be a sweeeeeeet bench.Might I suggest a thick coating for the bench top, something like gym seal. Again that's going to look real nice when your done.

i like the idea of the 2 2x12s! i might go that rout but with my luck ill split them when i put it together... and i liked the recessed foot idea, that would make it alot easier to get up and close in on it. thanks for the advice!

Good looking setup! Your "bench" looks exactly like mine. Old office or school desks work great for a reloading press. Mine is solid Oak and came from an attorney's office.
My brother-n-law has an old steel desk that he has his Ponsness-Warren 12 guage set-up on. He cut a hole where the shells kick out so they drop into the top right hand drawer. When all three drawers are full, it's time to box 'em up and head for Evergreen!

If ya notice, my PW is cantelevered passed the desk top just enough for the 4"x3" ABS reducer behind it to clear. They just drop in the bucket below. I'm looking for someone to pull the handle for me, LOL.

Jamieb: where did you get that old set of cubby-hole, slide out drawers? That is very cool.
It's amazing how many reloaders have converted desks, sets of drawers, or cabinets into reloading benches. I did the same. I got kicked out of the guest bedroom upstairs by the "boss" so I moved to the finished basement, creating a true man-cave. I've got a lot more space. Since my reloading bench is situated right next to my work-from-home office I can quickly jump from reloading to work as needed. The only problem is that I never want to come upstairs anymore. I'm addicted to reloading and I love my work. I have to admit that the guest bedroom looks much better now that I've moved my "junk" out of it.

The desk used to sit up on a counter in the old Oly. jail. The drawers are 4"x4"x24", with a key lock in each one.
My neighbor is a retired cop, if I remember right he told me the drawers were for storing a prisoners wallet, keys, etc.
