when it comes to buying firearms... i am always after the best deal, the greatest value for my hard earned dollars... i have been in the market for a 40-something calbre handgun for a few years.... my price-range is 450$ TOPS used or new, preferably new. i have discovered a brand called HI-POINT. they offer handguns in 38, 9mm, 40sw and 45acp. they are the chunky fat ugly older sister that glock never talks about.... they are nothing but glocks FAT ugly sister....

B U T....... you can get a BRAND NEW hand gun with a life-time NO QUESTIONS asked waranty, new in box for pretty damned close to 200$. they are nothing special.... a grip, a magazine.... a slide, a firing pin, a set of sights and a barrel........

100% made in america.... full american- english speaking old fasioned customer service out of the mid west....

ive heard stories about guys buying these guns broken and trashed from pawn-shops for as little as 50$... sending them back to the factory, getting the gun completley refurbished in a factory case with 2 new mags and an owners manual.....

ugly as hell, chunky.... but in my oppinion hard to beat a reliable 100% american made product- made by americans for americans.... for under 220$.... by the way they put really good sights on them.... its a 200% beat-it-to-hell utility gun.....

i havent purchased one yet, but from what ive seen, i will sacrifice asthetics for function and american quality/reliability and down-home customer service....
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

My dad has one in 9mm.  Very ugly, but he has never had a problem with it.  I don't think I would use it as  CC but I would definatly toss one in my truck.

I have a 9mm, not pretty as so eloquently stated above but makes a bang every time the trigger is pulled.

You could buy a Sigma for $300 and that one really is a Glock copy, hi-point = junk.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I have heard too many mixed reviews on them and have no personal experience with them, so I would stay away JMHO. And sorry man just cause its made it America that doesn't necessarily mean JACK! Kel-Tecs are American made and those I do have experience with and they are junk! H&K, Glock and SIG, 3 of the top most reliable and best built firearms are made elsewhere (Germany, Austria). If you have to have American made try Smith and Wesson, Ruger (although have had a few recall lately), Kahr, or Kimber their stuff still is made in America. Springfield Armory only assembles here.

Here's a link for made in America guns:
