i got one of these "throwaway guns" for my 18th birthday YEARS ago.... i also got a very nice cz .17hmr...as a combined "welcome to being a gun-toting man present" the thought behind this 150$ shotgun was so i would have a cheap way into shotgunning.... since then i have bought a benelli nova.

this NEF pardner holds 7 or 8 shells +1.... its cheap, ive beat it to hell, for the price its an awesome truck/boat gun.....

but one thing ive wondered..... it takes up to 3 inch shells, and i never cared, rather never thought twice to even change out choke tubes...... since then ive shot steel thru it more than ive shot lead.......... i was cleaning it last night and realized ive shot steel thru it but the choke says no steel.....  its such a cheap gun i dont really care what happens to it, but ive been wondering whats the worst that could happen? this is the one gun i own that i dont care about abusing.... the finnish on the stock is almost gone, no rust, but its my cheap utility gun.... on such a cheap gun, whats the harm shooting steel out of a full-choke that says no lead? it comes tapped from the factory for a rail, so im planning on using it as a slug gun..... but..... its my beater gun.... ive put MAYBE 15 rounds through it in the last year or so.... i hardly use it, but..... on a gun this cheap how harmful is shooting steel out of chokes that say no steel? am i being stupid and having no regard for saftey, or with a gun this cheap, can i get away with it?

catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.

You may only have ruined a choke or maybe the concern is splitting the end of the barrel forcing to hard of shot through it... :dunno:

What size of choke? Lead chokes are tighter and can split the barrel.
