WESTSIDE COW TAG
« on: May 11, 2008, 09:06:35 PM »

Guys,

I talked my father in law, 68, into adding on an elk tag when he bought his normal modern firearm deer tag.

What is a good draw cow tag on the Westside for a guy who doesn't get around quite like he used to? 1-2 miles off the road max.

I have helped him get a couple of deer with his 65 and older permit. If he is lucky enough to draw a tag, I want it to be a decent area.

Thanks,

Bryan

Ryderwood or Winston, I believe the Winston has the highest overall sucess rate of any westside unit..Over 9%,, Thats probably a bull stat. But there will be plenty of cows around..

Isn't there a killer antlerless tag in the Margaret or Loowit for senior only applicants?  Maybe the Mudflow?

Yeah, the mudflow is a 65 or older tag and should hold a good number of cows.
If you want to make it,
you can't fake it,
you gotta live it.

Hey Bryan, how's it going!  Put him down for 2069, 2066, 2070 and 2265.  If he draws let me know and I'll get you some maps with some areas to take him that are easy access with lots of elk.  Stay away from the mudflow hunts, they aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Hope all is well!
Sam
